Andrea R. Russo, DVM

Dr. Andrea R. Russo An associate veterinarian at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital since 2003, Dr. Andrea Russo grew up in Little Neck and practiced medicine in Massachusetts, Maryland and Long Island before settling down the Hudson Valley.

She has loved animals ever since her first "pet", a stuffed Poodle named Regina. Allergies prevented her from having real-life pets until the age of seven, but once kittens Rufus and Snoopy were welcomed into her home, she fell in love with all animals.

She continued her education at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. Feline and canine medicine are among her many professional interests.

When she's not reading about, thinking about or working with animals, she most enjoys spending time with her family. Dr. Russo performs a lot of volunteer work in her spare time and also likes to read, garden, and ride her bicycle. She is married to Michael Zierler, a scientific editor, and they have one son, Sam. The family also includes a young cat named Captain Jack Sparrow.
