Veterinary Assistants

Shawn Dahlin, Veterinary Assistant at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital, Pet Vet in Upstate NY Shawn has been a veterinary assistant at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital since July 2010. He says, "The hospital staff and the veterinarians not only love their jobs, but also care deeply about the animals in their care and they keep them purring and their tails wagging."

At home, Shawn has a 10-year-old cocker spaniel named Buddy, a 7-year-old Beagle named Daisy and a 1-year-old domestic short hair named Binx. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, gardening, swimming, camping and hiking.

Jeff, Veterinary Assistant at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital, Pet Clinic in Upstate NY Jeff joined the veterinary assistant team at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital in July 2012. He says, "I enjoy working at this animal hospital because I like helping animals and I find the medical aspects interesting." Jeff also finds it great to work with doctors and the state-of-the-art technology at the hospital.

At home, Jeff has two 4-year-old domestic shorthair cats named Black Kitty and Grey Kitty. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, weight lifting, computer programming and watching baseball.

Alyssa, Veterinary Assistant at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital, Pet Clinic in Upstate NY Veterinary Assistant Alyssa has been a part of our veterinary assistant team since June 2013. She says, "We are like one big family with the same goal to do our best work, and we all have the same love for animals!"

At home, Alyssa has three dogs: a 2-year-old Arabian Cunuco named Ru, an 8-year-old chihuahua named Chiquita, and a 7-year-old chihuahua named Pedro. She also has three 3-year-old litter mates named Heidi, Kitty and Sally. In her free time, Alyssa loves hanging out on the couch with her fiancé and their dogs (it's a tight squeeze!), and binge-watching her favorite shows such as Prison Break, Lost, Dexter, and her guilty pleasure, Heartland.

Valerie, Veterinary Assistant at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital, Pet Clinic in Upstate NY Veterinary Assistant Valerie joined our staff in June of 2013. “I love working at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital because it’s great to work with people that care about animals as much as I do,” she says. She is also happy to learn from the doctors all the time.

Valerie has two dogs, Daisy and Buddy, and spends her free time horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and snowmobiling.

Jessica, Veterinary Assistant at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital, Pet Clinic in Upstate NYJessica began working as a veterinary assistant at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital in January 2015. She likes working at the hospital because everyone here is friendly and they make newcomers feel welcome. The hospital also provides very thorough training to its staff. Jessica says, "I knew very little when I started. Everyone here is so willing to answer questions which leads to better patient care."

At home, Jessica has a 10-year-old cat named Kane. She enjoys reading, writing paranormal romance, playing World of Warcraft, spending time with her family and going on nature walks.

Nicole, Veterinary Assistant at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital, Pet Clinic in Upstate NYVeterinary Assistant Nicole joined our staff in March 2016. She loves seeing and interacting will all types of breeds. Nicole says, "The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's been my dream to work with animals, and I look forward to going to work every day!"

Nicole has two calico cats named Portifina and Luna. In her free time, Nicole loves to hike, listen to music, play video games and spend time with her cats.

Bonnie, Veterinary Assistant at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital, Pet Clinic in Upstate NYBonnie joined the staff at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital in April 2015. She's worked in the animal-care field for 15 years in a variety of roles. Bonnie managed a goat farm, where she looked after a heard of 100 goats. She spent time as an aquarist at an aquarium and volunteered at a zoo in Australia. When Bonnie lived closer to the coast, she participated in a first responder program for stranded marine animals.

"Rhinebeck Animal Hospital has a great work environment," Bonnie says. "We are all willing to help each other and genuinely care about people's pets. There's also always something to learn."

At home, Bonnie has a 3-year-old orange tabby cat named Tangerine and an 8-year-old gray tabby cat named Beatrix, who only has one eye and can sit on command. In her free time, Bonnie enjoys walks in the woods with a couple of field guides and her camera. She also enjoys birding and identifying trees, drawing and watching movies.

Veterinary Assistant Caitlin has been a part of the Rhinebeck Animal Hospital team since August 2015. She enjoys working at our hospital because of how kind and knowledgeable the people are here. She says, "My pets are always under amazing care and I trust these people with everything."

At home, Caitlin has a pit bull named Maya and six domestic shorthair cats named Bailey, Bella, Rain, Storm, Montgo and Zeus. She enjoys watching her animals, walking in the woods in the winter and four-wheeling in the summer. Caitlin also loves to swim in deep water.
